Vista ultimate x64 sp1 initial impression

To start off with, vista is 18 month old and it still sux, no doubt about it.Why do i install it when it sucks?Because i m curious what sp1 have done to this fail product.FYI, windows xp is just like vista at its release, maybe even worst, because of its barrage of security breach at its infancy. But with all the infinite amount of patches and 3 service packs, XP have become the dominant OS it is now.And although i dont want to like it, but i believe vista will be like XP few year down the raod.
The setup is a breeze, it detected and automatically connect to my isp, although how the hell it gets my login info is beyond me.But once i entered the desktop itself, its a hellhole once again...

Problem-Display stuck at 1280x1024
Blame-Microsoft and Samsung
Issue-Many monitors, even recent models does not come with proper EDID.EDID is a information stored in the monitor to tell the OS what resolution and frequency it can operate. In windows xp, most EDID can be ignored by installing monitor drivers. But in vista, micorosft only allow EDID as a reference and thus, the driver method no longer work.Since EDID is stored in a ROM, editing it is difficult, comes with high risk and needs a paid program to get the job done.So in my case, my 22" widescreen is flashed with a EDID that states that it only support up to 1280x1024, so no matter what you do to your device manager and display driver, i will not get my native 1680x1050 resolution.
Solution-Of course if you know how to dump, edit and flash EDID go ahead, its the best solution to this problem. For those who dont,or want a less risky approach, you can cut off the EDID transmission pin from your DVI cable.

Problem-Peerguardian doesnt run(AGAIN!!)
Blame-Microsoft
Issue-Driver protection x64 version from microsoft prevent peerguardian driver to load.
Solution-Boot up everytime manually changing to disable driver signature enforcement mode or use Readydriver plus

Problem-Wierd color when viewing photo
Blame-Samsung
Issue-Viewing photos in any and every program produce a yellowish effect applied to the entire screen. It is caused by faulty color profile installed together with samsung monitor driver.
Solution-Control Panel>Personalization>Display settings>Advance Settings>Color Management>Add sRGB IEC61966-2.1>set new profile as default>check use my setting for this device>reboot.

Thats about it.Since this is the thrid time i tested vista, 3 issues is HELL lot of improvement although the EDID problem almost broke my sanity while i struggle to solve the problem with my LCD runing at a horrible 1024x768 resolution.
My main concern like network bugs and slow HDD transfer are gone. The performance drop on GPU is less significant as long as you stay clear from dx10.All of my apps didnt have compatability issues at all, which show the maturation of vista, finally...
I switched on Superfetch features too, since offing it doesnt prevent vista from caching up hideous amount of free RAM.The used RAM is high, and flactuate MASSIVELY at 1.5 to 2gb at desktop and a crysis x64 make the total system consumption soar close to my 4gb RAM.So unless i step upon a new bug that is unfixable and prevent me from using my system convinently, vista may finally become my main OS after all, after 3rd try of course and 18 months...
