With the addition of MG sinanju, my display space located above my desktop exhausted. Furthermore, displaying gunpla out naked isnt the most dust friendly solution so i decided to get a glass cabinet. Ikea detolf fits nicely into my requirement because all 4 side made of glass for more possible viewing angele best of all,its cheap.
As mentioned early, the 4 side panels are made of tempered safety glass of about 160cmx30cm, but extra care is still required when handling them anyway. The top and the base uses wood and mine is painted black brown while beech color is also available. The 3 side panels is fastened using a rubber strip and the wood at both end.Additional support is given to the top wood plate using 4 metal beam that act as shelf support too. The shelf material is also made of glass, thus increase visability for models place at the bottom shelf too some extent. However the entire structure still feels rather flimsy and the glass door couldnt close properly too. Not sure if its due to assembly mistake or manufacture faults but it isnt bad to the extent i would ask for a exchange or refund.Furthermore, this cabinet weight more than 40kg making me think twice too.
The internal space is about 35x40cm which make posing of 2 gundam in 1 shelf extremely challenging. The bulky display stand from bandai isnt making things any simpler either. The height of each shelf is around 40cm is adequate for my gunpla collection, but those with more extravagent design like destiny extreme blast mode may have some trouble. The shelf has a opening at the top for lighting which can be purchased seperately at 25sgd or you can install your own custom fancy ligthing if you wish too. For a asking price of 99SGD, this shelf is decent and presentable but since its make of glass, i wouldnt mind paying more for a more solid construction.
Glass too reflective for phototaking...
