Welcome to Left 4 Dead 3...
Squeezed a free day out of college schedule for some sinful call of duty fun. No time for mulitplayer, replay at higher difficulty nor review, so heres a short take on single player. First thing you notice about the game is that explosions are attracted to you constantly. Looks cool at first, but after awhile even the michael bay will get sick of it( or maybe not..).
The gameplay mechanics is intact entirely, which isnt a bad thing. Quick time events are back too, now with ridiculous control of Shift+V to strangle someone to death. Evidently any money earn from million of copies moved for MW2 did not end up in developing better AI. Its hideous, non intelligent and loves to kamikaze. I guess they reused the japanese AI from world at war without thinking twice about the context.
The story is a depature from the usual call of duty. Personally, i think its an improvement and provides a "good" reason to thrust you around theatre of war. The start of the campaign feel disjoined like MW2 but as it approaches the end, the plot twist and presentation worth my while. It has a few unique and memorable moments but most of them have the "seen it done that" feeling. As the whole campaign is so noisy, it doesnt built up the tension needed for the final showdown. Most probably, you are numb to the destruction half way through the campaign. Its not a bad campaign, but MW just up the ante so high that no predecessor able to conquer it. Pushing yearly release of call of duty seems to take a toll on the software quality. There are some level design that fails at directing you towards your goal, sometime even misleading you. There are various times where animation glitches occur and you would stumble upon spawn points where enemy materialize right in your face. Such qualities are unforgiveable for a linear game made by high profile developer with sky high budget.Visually, improvements have been made to texture and lighting, but particle is still mediocre looking. Poor quality control seems to rear its ugly head again as there are some drastic difference in quality between scenes. I seems to experience visual issues with alpha texture with intense lighting behind. Problem may lie in driver, but i dont have the time to find out anyway.
Complete the normal difficulty campaign within a day, and my eardrum is still ringing from the nonstop explosions whole day long. Zombie mode is at the end of the campaign, but its time to take a break and continue on some pain in the ass assignments...
Story-9/10
Gameplay-7/10
Visuals-8/10
Audio-8/10
Can i have some wardrobe malfunction please?

After all these years, crysis is still the king

Whats next? Space station? =D

If only all scenes are this good..

Light at the end of my ear tunnel(canal)...
