\\Learn this wonderful tweak from alfox on pspmod forum//
Some extra steps have been added by me, due to formatting by removing the memory stick from psp and into my card reader.
2GB users who've upgraded to 4GB will notice slower read/write access on their MS. The reason is that 2GB is formatted at FAT16 by default and 4GB is formatted at FAT32 by default.PSP can read/write faster on MS having FAT16 filesystem instead of FAT32 filesystem, one example is .cso images crashing and saving a game will screw up,even for UMD.4GB is the highest for FAT16 not 2GB. The reason why Windows and PSP formats a 4GB w/ a filesystem of FAT32 is for compatibility. 4GB FAT16 is not compatible for Win95/98/Me but if you have WinXP then you'll have nothing to worry.
1.Ensure you have 'shown hidden files' enabled
2.Copy your entire memory stick contents to your local harddisk, including the hidden files.
3.Go to Start Menu -> Run...
4.Type 'cmd' without quotes
5. At command prompt, type:
format x: /q /fs:FAT (this is for FAT16 filesystem,x is the drive alphabet for your memory stick)
6.If asks for a Force Dismount, choose yes.
7.If it warns you about compatibility problems on FAT16, just ignore it.
8.If it asks for a Volume Label, just type anything or none at all.
9.Copy back your backup.
10.No difference with computer to memory card transfer for me, but psp memory seek time reduce significantly.
For cowards, no it doesnt screw your memory stick, just reformat again if things screw up.
