panasonic lumix dmc-fx30

Will be flying to japan soon, decided to get a new digital camera.Doesnt like the idea of getting an additional wide angle lens and make your camera look bulky.Decided to go for a slim digital camera with build in 28mm wide angle lens.
With a 2GB SD card, the camera cost 699 but i manage to wack the price down to 500sgd,which is rather cheap for a newly release camera with 7.2megapixel max effective and 2.5"LCD.Daylight shots is absolutely gorgeous, with minimal intervention from the user to get the focus and ISO right.Things got rather nasty during night shots, where flashlight must be forced off and ISO settings need at least 800 to get a decent shot.Focusing is also a hit and miss affair, while anti shake/blur doesnt work very well during poor lightings too.At 7 megapixel, only around 600 pictures can be stored on a 2Gb storage while 480p video at 30fps can only squeeze 20minute into it.Reduce the resolution to 5MP with the ability to increase my optical zoom to 4 while 7Mp optical zoom is ~3.5,of course most importantly, i could take about 800photos with 2GB.The options for video are 480p or 240p @ 30fps or 10fps.This is bad since 30fps give good frame rate, too good den required actually but waste space, while 10fps occupy much less space but gice you a fucking slideshow all the way. There is no popular fps like 25fps or maybe setting the minimum at 15fps which is much more useful than 10fps,so i m forced from the begining to use 480 @ 30fps...
Generally, this camera serve all my current needs very well.Even with more cash to burn, i may not upgrade to dSLR due to its size. Most limitation is due to compact design and some have the blame pointing directly at the graphics processor.I forsee problems taking fireworks for this camera, but for under 700SGD,this is a compromise you must make.

The camera.

Good quality at any setting during the day.
