Great another WWII shooter that stay true to histroy with no time machine twist or whatso ever. After swearing not to touch another bloody WWII shooter, i still play call of duty 5.Craving for more call of duty after their epic COD4 modern combat, i hope COD5 can be at least on par or even better than its predecessor.Of course, without saying most will be disappointed. It lacks the unexpected twist and climax in the storyline, doesnt relate to a war that is very real in the current political climate.Instead showcasing another histroy lesson taking down the axis power all over again, simply in another perceptive and theatre.I must admit it is one of the best WWII shooter developed in recent years, but COD4 have up the ante so high it pales in comparison.Everyone was speculative when COD franchise step into modern high tech warfare, away from its previous WWII roots. But when it delivered and proved a major sucess, everyone thought WWII material finally dried up and we no longer need to walk that same old bloody berlin streets simply rendered in higher polygon and more complex shader effect anymore. We are wrong obviously.
Before i continue whinning why i have to play another WWII shooter when i volunteered to install and play, lets get into the review itself.COD5 features red army pushing back the nazi and crushing them back to their fatherland while showcasing american struggling with the kamikaze rising sun.Sounds interesting? Yes it does, bombarding you with new location beautifully rendered lush pacific island and devastated berlin streets in never posible high resolution real time rendered master piece. The game run beautifully on my aging machine but its also because the engine is aging itself. It lacks all the bell and whistle from more recent titles that features from sun shaft to fast fourier caculated water, but the developer did a great job using all the resources offered by the engine making this game look on par with the competitors.
The game mission switch between the pacific and russian front to and fro like COD.However, the enemies require entirely different approach to take down your target.Nazi needs no introduction, but samurai counterpart is an different story. Orgasm from sacrificing themselves and their breathen, bring the anti nazi tatic with you into the pacific will quick end up with a kamikaze attack succeeding on you and thrashing your keyboard in frustration. There is also a tank mission and on top of that there is a PBY mission!Crawling around the tight metal bird shooting missle boats and zero fighter while rescuing survivors is an epic and intense moment that is the most unforgettable mission in the entire game. After you complete the game with a slowmo showdown in berlin planting a lame looking communist flag, you get to shoot nazi zombies!Kill zombies and repair fortifications to earn points for buying weapons and gaining acess to previous blocked location result in hours of fun before you finally get over run by the zombies.
All right my rating is a little low because i m simply bias against WWII shooters, but it still manage to impress me nontheless, so kudos to its developer,Treyarch. When i complete the game, i still have the "omg no more WWII shooters plox" playing at the back of my brain. But mortal like me rotting in national service will still succumb to temptation if another famous developer take up this cursed genre again... =.=
Look Mom, my engine can render thick vegetation too!!!

Fake static sun shaft ftl...

D day replaying on the other end of the planet

Shut up bitch, before i burn you too
