MG MSN-06S SINANJU

My first one eye monster...

This extremely expensive gunpla set is actually given to me, partially, wrongly assembled by my significant other. Meant as a 21st birthday present, she didnt manage to complete it on time so both of us work on completing and correcting this magnificent gunpla while trying to paint those freaking gold design.Used 2 gold decal due to the painting difficulty on the shiled and chest while others is hand painted tediously, clean with thinner then try again.
MG Sinanju is without doubt a fantastic piece of work done by the same Katoki which designed GX-0 Unicorn too. Same reason as why i didnt plunge into Unicorn gundam till i went hongkong, this gunpla is even more expensive at a staggering 125+ SGD street price. Grand as it is, the amount of painting mandatory to complete the basic detail on the Master grade gunpla is...STAGGERING! Well you have the choice of using decals or stickers to complete those gold detail but decals is just as difficult to work with and they do not cover the entirely piece entirely. While the sticker option used on this gunpla...should be the last resort on certain difficult parts. Of course that left me with the painting option with some decal to cut corners. The outcome isnt ideal but still look great without close scrutiny from a pro.Added most of the zeon logo as stickers and tried to add the line decal that is suppose to be for the wings, shoulder and leg, but give up half way due to huge amount of broken decal or alignment issues. If i can find a sinanju decal selling in a local store, i may get it and give the decal another try .Finally i painted all yellow parts with gold paint to match the rest of the color scheme creating a marvelous red gold black color combi.Thought all the work is done till i saw this ugly red blob, which is actually sinanju head.Instead of the lineart having a green cyclop eye like zaku, the gunpla is too small to reveal this detail and the head looks too simple to suit the rest of the MS.
Decided to paint the rim of his sculp, antenna and face plate gold. The vulcan cannon or whatever it is which i presume for CIWS is painted black while paneling its facial plate.Such simple touch make wonder to the default boring head and some touch of customisation to the otherwise, extremely popular gunpla which is posted everywhere like virus on the net.
Structually, it has quite a few structural flaws too.Although it does not suffer the squeakyness of Unicorn gundam, but its leg joint and fingers is too weak. The leg joint can only be fixed after 2 layer of tamiya extra thick cement. The weak finger cannot carry the long rifle properly even with the palm having a lock to attach to the gun.Create massive issue with posing and can only use position the gun in such a way that it leans on the lower arm to maintain a stable grip.Next comes the massive shield, imagine a shield larger and heavier than IWSP gattling gun and you get the idea. Just to mount it, it neeeds to be attach to the arm rocket pack and a clip that clamp weakly on its arm. So you get articulation that even my HG 1/144 models embarrassing able to achieve. But issues aside, the detail of this gunpla is breathtaking. The amount of detail edges close to a Perfect great after all the finger numbing painting at a 1/100 form factor is probably the best way to descript this set.The design of Sinanju is also pretty close to Unicorn gundam which is based to mobility with crazy amount of propulsion. Guess what, i count not less than 22 freaking exhaust on sinanju is how crazy this unit is.Looks like a High mobility zaku with strike aile pack and some imperial kick ass design if you ask me.
Having a more expensive hobby which is high performance computing to feed, gunpla is usually pushed to second place when come to distributing my spending on hobbies. But now i finally understand what the hype is all about this gunpla model , thanks to dear!

This is the first time i see a shield being held this way...
