Searching for a replacement for my razer krait is tough. My old krait has wire breakage issue and the holding the right button to zoom would cause the left button continue to be press due to the edge of the left button blocking it.Therefore i would like to find a mouse with the edge of the right and left button seperated unlike krait's design.Of course, one wouldnt want a mouse that has the same specification as the one you replace do you?
After the some research, the answer is Razer Abyssus. Featuring top end 3.5g infrared and the button design i want without breaking the wallet. The price is reduced by removing macro buttons, using the cheaper infrared sensor instead of laser and least fancy led lightings in razer line up.Abyssus surprisingly feature hardware adjustment for signalling and resolution for different genres or guns. Under normal usage with max signalling and resolution which is 1khz and 3500dpi respectively, the mouse feels slightly warm which i kind of dislike. The USB connection is also not gold plated, not that i believe gold connections would improve singalling but paying a premium for gaming mouse, i would expect the best with all materials. On the driver side, its options and memory footprint is similar to krait which isnt a bad thing but the On the fly process is still active even you disable in the gui, which i presume similar to all razer mouse driver as krait also have similar bug.
The only game breaker is the universal scroll.Something that never gone wrong even on budget office mouse like microsoft is miraculously present on a gaming mouse. The scroll on my first set is loose and gives a high pitch noise while the second set produces squeaky noise when you scrolls too fast.It may only affects the initial batch of the mouse but it is unforgiveable mistake nontherless, tarnishing razer high quality image i had for it.
Theres also issues with hard surface mousepad like barracuda lite which is meant for laser mouse. Changing to soft mat like razer goliathus will fix the issue.
A mouse that i would not recommend to anyone unless you having hearing problem, dont use scroll at all or you are desperate for a affordable high dpi gaming mouse.
